To celebrate World IP Day on 26 April 2018, Womble Bond Dickinson’s IP, Technology and Data Team will be launching a series of 'transatlantic top tips' videos.
Each of the four short animated videos will provide guidance to businesses, companies and individuals seeking to capture and protect their intellectual property rights on both sides of the Atlantic.
The videos, which were prepared by lawyers from Womble Bond Dickinson’s UK and US offices, will focus on the following topics:
- An introduction to World IP Day. Authors: Rose Smalley and Randy Vesprey. Editors: Patrick Cantrill and Kristen Cramer
- Registration of designs. Authors: Lauren Anderson and Rose Smalley. Editors: Ryan Cagle and Patrick Cantrill
- Brand protection (trade marks). Authors: Rose Smalley and Jen Itzkoff. Editors: Pete Bromaghim and Patrick Cantrill
- Protecting inventions (patents). Authors: Tim Barber and David Crowe. Editors: Patrick Cantrill and Lou Isaf.
The videos will be available on our website and alongside the firm’s YouTube channel.
Rose Smalley, an IP lawyer in Womble Bond Dickinson’s Leeds office, has spearheaded the project.
The theme of this year’s World IP Day, as chosen by the World Intellectual Property Organization, is Powering Change: Women in Innovation and Creativity. With that in mind, Womble Bond Dickinson also has included a special feature in the animation: 'An Introduction to World IP Day', highlighting some of the many women whose brilliance, ingenuity, curiosity and courage has been a driving force for change in our world and has contributed to shaping our common future.
For the team’s nominations of influential women who have contributed to the world of IP, visit the IP team's Twitter page @WBD_IP_UK. To nominate your own influential woman (or women!) using the hashtags #WBDWomen and #WorldIPDay.
