Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) has hosted a roundtable event which took place today for the Department for International Trade (DIT) in its Newcastle office.

The links between the North East of England and the USA have never been stronger and it continues to be vitally important to the region's fortunes for trade, investment and collaboration. To help foster even closer ties, the roundtable welcomed Richard Turner, HM Consul & Regional Director East USA.

DIT organised the roundtable event, led by Simon Crosby, Senior International Trade Adviser at the DIT and Julie Underwood, International Trade Director at North East England Chamber of Commerce.

The roundtable session was aimed at local companies that are interested in doing business in the USA or are already trading there. Richard provided an update on the political and business climate in the USA and the high value of opportunities that exist for British products and services. The discussion had a particular focus on the advanced manufacturing, automotive, energy, food/drink and life sciences sectors.
