Last week, representatives from Womble Bond Dickinson (WBD) attended the Northern Powerhouse Business Summit, a showcase of innovation and opportunities for businesses across the North of England. The Summit was part of the Great Exhibition of the North programme, which runs through to 9 September 2018.
WBD is a partner of the Great Exhibition of the North and contributed to the Summit by hosting a business challenge workshop with Nissan. SMEs from across the North showcased their capability to design technology solutions to help streamline Nissan's maintenance process.
So far, the Great Exhibition of the North has proved to be a fantastic platform for raising the profile of Northern Powerhouse topics and keeping the North on the national agenda.
Jake Berry MP, the Northern Powerhouse minister, announced that the Chairs of each of the eleven northern Local Economic Partnerships will come together to form a new body called the NP11. This body will be government-funded and will represent the region to promote the economic enrichment of the North. The NP11 aim to achieve this by working with, and advising, the Government on how to increase productivity, overcome economic regional disparities and challenge the historic north-south divide. This development follows the pan-northern approach to the management of northern transport advocated by Transport for the North.
As a firm with a long standing and strong presence in the North, WBD is also a very proud member of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership Programme. This partnership recognises the significant work the firm has undertaken in the North and also our ongoing commitment to build a strong and successful Northern Powerhouse worthy of a place on the global economic stage.
